The second Toquinho - Vinícius
'En La Fusa' album was created after a great success of it predecessor,
but this time with the collaboration of one of the greatest female voices
of Brazil - Maria Bethânia. This album brings first songs made by
Toquinho/Vinícius duet that would later become big successes, such
as Como Dizia o Poeta, Samba da Rosa or Testamento,
a song from Maria's brother Caetano Veloso É
de Manha, but also a choice of marvellous interpretations of songs
from Tom Jobim (O Que Tinha de Ser), Baden
Powell (Apelo and Samba de Benção) and
Gilberto
Gil (Viramundo). Recorded without ambiental sounds from the
legendary café, this album's athmosfere approaches those from the
usual 60's studio recording, still the arrangements are pretty much the
same as found on the first one from this mini series - En
La Fusa con Maria Bethânia y Toquinho. A true masterpiece, essential
for every Vinícius' admirers and bossa nova colectors.
